My Reality of the "Trifecta"
The Sweaty Seat Society wasn't just born out of a love for puns; it was born out of necessity. I am a chronically ill human, specifically, I am living with the "Trifecta"(POTS, hEDS, and MCAS) and the idea of a traditional 5K is often out of the reach. When your heart rate spikes just from standing, your joints have a mind of their own, and your mast cells are constantly on high alert, "hitting the pavement" isn't just difficult—it’s often very literal.
Georgia in June: The Triple Threat
Let’s be honest: An Atlanta June is a beautiful nightmare. Between the heat, the humidity, and the pollen and bugs fighting for supremacy, being outdoors can be an outright health hazard for the chronically ill. The #FreeToBe theme means being free to prioritize our safety without sacrificing our Pride.
Our Mission: Movement for Every Body
I started this open fundraiser team because I know I’m not the only one out there wanting to participate but needing a different way to do it. My stationary recumbent bike is my "sustainable slay"—it’s how I get my movement in without compromising my health.
The Sweaty Seat Society is a call to all the humans who:
Are navigating chronic illness or disability.
Find the outdoor elements more "dangerous" than "delightful."
Want to cheer each other on from the comfort (and safety) of their own home or gym.
This is one little step toward building a community where we celebrate the "work" no matter where or how it happens. Whether you're on a bike, a rower, or just supporting from your sofa, you are part of the Society.
