The mission of the San Pedro Outrigger Canoe Club is to maintain and perpetuate the Hawaiian Culture through the promotion of competitive and recreational outrigger canoe paddling in San Pedro and neighboring cities–bringing together adults and youths to participate.
Our club is dedicated to spreading the Aloha Spirit and sharing the Polynesian culture that infuses the sport of outrigger canoe paddling. By paddling with our club, you not only become part of a canoe team, but you become part of our ohana (family) and part of a club that is truly unique and full of mana (spirit).
Hoe wa’a (outrigger canoe paddling) is a spiritual sport, not only a competitive sport but has ancient Polynesian roots in voyaging, fishing and war. Canoes were a vital part of the culture and livelihood in Hawai’i. Today they provide an amazing connection to Hawaiian history, as well as a chance to experience teamwork, dedication, and aloha on the beautiful oceans we paddle on. SPOCC are honored to be a part of this sport, history and to pay it forward.
We welcome community members to learn more about the ocean and care for the environment right here in our backyard. In addition, our goal is to provide the finest paddling experience for our members and the community.
