The Rio Grande Valley chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA RGV) is an organization dedicated to building a democratic socialist society rooted in social welfare, equality, and popular control of resources and economic life. It challenges systems based on private profit, inequality, and discrimination, while advocating for equitable access to healthcare, education, housing, and environmental sustainability. Grounded in the unique challenges of the RGV, such as poverty, over-policing, border militarization, and environmental exploitation, DSA RGV works to defend human rights, oppose unjust economic and political systems, and empower marginalized communities. The chapter promotes democratic participation, civil liberties, and collective action to create a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future both locally and beyond. As democratic socialists believe that our economy should be built democratically, by and for working people, not by billionaires for profit.
