Our mission is to promote the well-being of animals through SAVE: Spay/Neuter, Adopt, Volunteer and Educate.
The Woodford Humane Society is a non-profit animal adoption center in Versailles, Kentucky. We care for the homeless and unwanted animals in Woodford County, surrounding counties, as well as animals from other states. We have welcomed thousands of animals since 1975 and strive to find good, loving homes for all of them. A careful screening process helps us match the right animals to the right adoptive homes.
With no government funding, we are completely dependent on private contributions to continue to provide care to 1,200 animals each year. Since 2007, we have placed 92% of our animals into their forever homes! The national average is around 25%.
At any given time, we are home to over 200 animals available for adoption. Adoption counselors are on staff to assist with the selection of a new pet. We maintain a "wish book" for people seeking a particular breed and let them know when a match has been made.
