Georgia was a sweet, sassy, girly girl. She loved wearing her bows and dresses, watching Frozen because Elsa was her favorite Disney princess, and she loved to sing and dance. Some of her favorite things were anything purple, picking wildflowers, her blankies, finding seashells, her best friend “Cesa” and dancing with her daddy. Her favorite Bible story was Noah’s Ark, and one of her favorite songs was Jesus Loves Me.

A beautiful blonde haired, blue-eyed, sassy, princess who loved her mommy and daddy and adored her big brothers. She was a ray of sunshine and stole the hearts of all who knew her. 💜🍑✝️

A message from Georgia’s Mom:
“Georgia, you were an absolute gift from God, something I had always prayed for and believed God would give me in His time. You were light and life, pure joy and love, and absolutely perfect!

Learning how to breathe without you is the hardest thing we’ve ever had to do. We’re learning to lean in and ask God to make us stronger in our brokenness and to carry us now. 💟 Queen Elizabeth II said “grief is the price we pay for love”. We are grieving because we love you deeply and would have gladly given our last breath for yours. We’ll love you forever Georgie girl and will always be grateful for the love and joy you gave to us all!

Sweet love, we miss you……our hearts miss you……our souls miss you…… and our arms long to hold you again.  We will see you again! Georgia, we love you farther than the moon and all of the stars!” 💜 🍑

This is the 15th Annual Baby Steps Memorial Run this year.  Please consider making a donation in honor of our sweet Georgia Evelyn . All proceeds from each fundraiser will go directly to The Amelia Center at Children's of Alabama.

In 2008, Abby and Cary Nicholas lost their infant sons, Braden and Brody.   In 2009, Loni and Justin Hodge lost their infant daughter, Maddox Elise. Their pain was intense and overwhelming but from their sorrow they made something good happen.  Their families organized the first Annual Baby Steps Memorial Run, with all proceeds benefiting The Amelia Center, a department  of Children’s of Alabama.

The Amelia Center, located in Birmingham, is now over twenty years old. It offers individual grief counseling to parents and grandparents who have suffered the loss of a child and to children who have lost siblings.  In addition, the center offers family and group therapy, and educational opportunities for professionals (teachers, clergy and first responders) all who work with grief-stricken individuals.  All counseling services are free to the participants. Since its inception in 1997, the compassionate staff of The Amelia Center have brought hope and smiles and understanding to over 15,000 people who thought their lives were over.  It is supported not only by Children’s but by the generous donations of community members.
