In August of 2020 Mark Oakley was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. His only chance of survival was a lung transplant, which he received on April 18, 2022. While he has been given a second chance at life, the costs of the surgery and life long care is astronomical. The transplant costs approach a million dollars, the life long medications he will need to take is almost $100,000 a month. Mark is the loving grandfather of six grandkids and as a result of the surgery and costs has now moved back to Oswego to live with his family.
