It's time for the Annual StepUp For The Arc Run and Walk which supports individuals served by The Arc of Somerset County. This year I have joined The Achievement Center (TAC) team. TAC is a certificate-based, post secondary program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities interested in developing their education to gain skills to enter the workforce. The program is located at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) campus which allows students to experience college life. Many of the students take RVCC classes and some have graduated with their Associates Degree.
I have had the privilege of working at their Club Friday Night Hangout (CFNH) program for many years. CFNH is bi-monthly Social Skills Awareness program that is designed through practice to develop and enhance social skills; discuss better ways to communicate our ideas and thoughts; and recognize the importance of both verbal/non-verbal communications in our relationships. I have developed relationships with these awesome students and I have been blessed to see them grow throughout my time at CFNH.
The Achievement Center students are near and dear to my heart, and I hope you will consider donating toward this event to support our students and adults served by our agency. Thank you!
