Our family has been escaping to Chincoteague Island for almost 50 years. We began camping and then rented homes much like this one for many years until we eventually purchased one of our own on the East side of the island 20 year ago.

We had the opportunity to purchase this home in 2020 and were excited to enjoy the waterfront life while being close to town. Our family lives on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania in the heart of Amish country. As much as we love being farmers, every time we cross that bridge into Chincoteague we smile and relax as the work and worries stay on the mainland.

Although Chincoteague is a quiet, small island, we have always found plenty to do. One of our favorite things is to bring goodies from our farm… veggies, milk, eggs, honey, beef, and then visit one of the local island seafood markets, like Gary Howards Seafood, to make a fun, delicious dinner for our family while on vacation.

If we’re really lucky, we’ll steam up some of our own fresh caught crabs, clams or fish. There are also several places on the island to get local fruit, veggies and other fresh food - like Church Street Produce or Whiteraven’s Nest on Maddox so you can also bring the farm to the bay during your stay here.

Be sure to check out our Recipes page. We’ve included a few of our favorite recipes that we always enjoy cooking and eating while together as a family on the island and wanted to share. Maybe you will feel inspired to try them. If cooking isn’t your idea of fun, then let the locals do the work as there are tons of amazing restaurants, food trucks and eateries on the island. We hope you enjoy your time here on the island and in Farm to Bay and come back to visit again some time.
