Hello, everyone! Cat Redden here! Thank you for your participation in my fundraiser for the Epilepsy Alliance Ohio. In early 2013, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (JME), a condition likely to be chronic that requires daily management. Receiving such a diagnosis at the age of 15 was life-changing. Finding the right medication making changes to my lifestyle was difficult enough without the resulting teenage denial and depression. Thankfully, the Epilepsy Alliance was there to help. Through their summer camp, support groups and events, I was able to connect with a community of individuals that understood my struggles on a deeply personal level. I overcame the worst of my fears, embraced this new aspect of my identity, and in time, became a proud advocate for their work and those with epilepsy as a whole.
The Epilepsy Alliance Ohio had a profound positive impact on my life. They have supported me in ways that no one else could and continue to serve as an essential resource in this community. Not only do they offer support groups and social events-- they raise money for research, sponsor scholarships, provide seizure education, advocate for legislation in Washington D.C., assist with securing workplace accommodations and more! Whenever I have reached out to them for help, they have always answered the call. If you can spare even a dollar, please join me in supporting this amazing organization.
And once again-- thank you!!
