Community Action Network (CAN) partners with children, youth, and families from under-resourced Washtenaw County neighborhoods to create better futures for themselves and improve the communities in which they live. CAN provides wraparound supports for families living in six communities, including year-round educational programming for youth, housing stabilization services (e.g. food distributions and eviction prevention), and hosting regular events at the community centers (e.g. Back to School BBQs, holiday parties) to foster a sense of unity among community members. This service integration ensures families basic needs are met and that communities are safe, clean, and nurturing so that families can thrive. CAN is proud to note that it is Food Gatherers’ highest capacity partner, and that its students have a 97% high school graduation rate and attend 4 more days of school per student per year than their socioeconomic peers.
