He believed that with the right combination of teacher, materials and philosophy, children would like to learn, would take responsibility for their education and would help others. This vision still inspires me and is a reality at Galloway School and The Elliott Galloway Scholarship Fund expands the reach. At age 52 Elliott started running and it re-charged his life." -Jeff
Elliott Galloway established The Elliott Galloway Scholarship Fund during his lifetime to provide financial aid scholarships to those children who wanted a Galloway education, but did not have the financial means to have one. Through this endowed fund, we are able to honor Elliott Galloway in perpetuity and continue to fulfill his dream of educating all children regardless of their financial situation.
His caring compassion, sense of honor, integrity, and belief in collaborative and lifelong learning will continue to be carried out at The Galloway School. As headmaster, teacher, and tutor, Elliott created an institution that reflected his belief that learning is best accomplished in a nurturing, caring environment, in which children are drawn rather than pushed into learning.
It is a true testament to Elliott’s strength and faith that nearly 40 years later, his school continues to thrive. Until his death, he visited the school often, walking the hallways and speaking with the students and teachers whom he knew and loved.
