I am proud to say that this is Teams Heart and Soul’s 10th year participating in the Amber Room 5K Run from the Sun benefiting Ann’s Place. Our walk is in memory of my late fiancé Joe Canale, my brother Gary Arconti, niece Traci Bruno and friend Kristin Nauheimer.
Since my first race in 2015, I have learned a few things. First, cancer has a way of coming out of nowhere and touching so many of us and the people we are close to. Too many people! Cancer changes lives forever. The 2nd is when a cancer diagnosis is received, it creates uncertainty, stress and the impact is felt by everyone. Having a system in place to offer compassionate and caring emotional support is so important to those who are going through their cancer journey, their caregivers and loved ones. I personally know this because Ann’s Place was there for me during Joe’s cancer journey. This inspires me to help ensure that this type of support is there for others who are going through cancer challenges.
This year Team Heart and Soul is honoring Julia Timmel in her fight against cancer. Julia is a wife and mom of two beautiful little girls. She is brave and is a fighter and I know she is going to get through this and walk with us next year!
I am truly so grateful to support such an amazing organization. If you have donated to our Heart & Soul Team in the past- Thank you! Your generosity is so appreciated and although I don’t have the exact amount, together over the past 10 years we have raised over Ten Thousand dollars which in turn has provided 10 ( or more) people to receive all services Ann’s Place has to offer for a full year for free!
