Celebrating its 35th year, the El Segundo Run for Education is a beloved community tradition that brings together runners, walkers, families, and supporters from across El Segundo and the surrounding South Bay. Hosted by the El Segundo PTA Council, this annual event combines fitness, fun, and community spirit while raising vital funds to support our local schools.
The USATF-certified course winds through downtown El Segundo and the surrounding neighborhoods, offering participants a scenic, enjoyable route in El Segundo's beautiful, mild coastal climate. Whether you're a competitive runner chasing a personal best, a casual jogger, a walker enjoying the morning with friends, or a family making memories together, the Run for Education has a place for everyone.
For 35 years, this event has been about more than crossing the finish line. It's an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate our schools, support our students and teachers, and invest in El Segundo's future. Every participant, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter plays a part in making this long-standing tradition possible—and in helping provide valuable resources and opportunities for students throughout our local schools.

The Kiwanis El Segundo Run for Education 5K and 10K are USATF-sanctioned (Sanction Number: 27-33-165365). Both courses are certified by the USA Track & Field Road Racing Technical Council (Certification Codes: CA21007TEB and CA21021TEB).
2027 USATF SCA Road Running Grand Prix
Our 5K and 10K have been selected as 2027 Road Running Grand Prix Series events by the USATF Southern California Association (SCA). The series gives USATF members opportunities to compete in some of the region’s top road races.
