Imagine your favorite sports arena or stadium. In Birmingham, we are a mere 45 minutes from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where my husband is from and that number is 101,821. Now imagine that stadium absolutely full, but not of fans screaming for the Crimson Tide, but of sick people waiting on a heart, lung, liver, kidney or pancreas donor. IF you can wrap your mind around that number and it is a big one, you still would not have all the people in this country waiting on an organ. For that, you'd have to add almost 12,000 more people waiting outside the stadium.
Can we even imagine what that looks like? It's really hard. What if it's someone we love--a parent, a sibling, an aunt or uncle or a dear friend? Then it really steps on our toes. Especially we we learn that 20 people die every day while they are waiting. These. Numbers. Are. Staggering. Especially if someone you love is among the 114,000 on the list.
Please give a little. Help Legacy of Hope continue their education efforts.
Thanks in advance.
