Why I Am Running Across The Country to Support the American Cancer Society
My friend Emma Craven has been running to support the American Cancer Society for years now. She tagged me on Facebook and asked if I would like to participate in this race, and it made me think.
Running has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have run for many reasons. I have raced competitively in high school and in college. I have run to keep myself in shape. I have run for solace, to take time to be a part of nature and the world around me. And while running, I have met some friends who will be my friends for life. People who are more family than friend, even though we are not related by blood.
Emma tagging me made me realize that I could run for a new reason. To help others. And to support them in fighting one of the most vicious diseases I know. Cancer has touched many lives. I know it has touched mine. And I would love to do something that could help fight back. If you can make a donation, I would really appreciate it. I believe that any donation can make a difference. Thank you to all that can!
