The Run of Hope benefits pediatric cancer research at Seattle Children's. Please join me this year and/or consider donating to our fundraiser!
As many of you know, I have recently begun working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Seattle Children's Research Institute. My work in Jay Sarthy's lab aims to develop safer chemotherapies for children with blood cancers. Most blood cancer patients receive chemotherapy as part of their treatment plan and although highly effective, it has many long term health consequences, particularly affecting pediatric patients. We strive to bring patients safer options that will improve their long term health and life expectancy.
Recent federal cuts to the NIH and the projected cuts to Medicaid will devastate health care and scientific advancements for all Americans. We will likely lose a generation of young scientists given the grim and very real budget cuts to the NIH. Many of you have heard about this. My colleagues and I experience these threats to our research every day, but the effects of these cuts on us professionally could never compare to the impacts on childhood cancer patients.
On September 21, 2025, the Run of Hope in Seward Park will raise funds for the pediatric cancer and blood disorders program at Seattle Children's. This will move our research forward, enabling new discoveries and translation for some of life's most threatening illnesses that affect some of our most vulnerable patients. Just wanted to post the link in case any of you would like to help make a difference-no donation is too small!
