For more than 50 years, UI Health has been a pioneer in sickle cell research and treatment. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with sickle cell and reduce the prevalence and mortality of the disease.
Today, UI Health has cured 40 patients of sickle cell disease through stem cell transplantation — 27 from matched sibling donors, 13 with half-matched relative donors.
