Update as of 11/16/2020: Instead of 100 person corrals, we will be utilizing 20 person corrals. This means instead of 4 or 5 corrals, we will have at least 12 in order to comply with the new COVID guidelines and ensure a safe race environment.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE follow all COVID-related instructions. If people choose to ignore the rules (not wearing masks, gathering in large groups outside of corrals, sticking around after the event, etc.) we and other groups will most likely have future races at State Parks shutdown until this pandemic is over. It is very important that you abide by the rules if you choose to attend.
If you are not comfortable competing in-person, you are welcome to switch to the virtual race. Also, if you are not feeling well in the days leading up to the race or on race day, please stay home and compete virtually. Virtual race packets (hoodies and medals) will be mailed out a week after the race.
Thank you all for being patient with us as we navigate the new restrictions! We can't thank you enough for your support in 2020.

Update (10/28/2020) Trivium Racing has been given the go ahead to have BTNF in person for 2020! There are small event modifications that you NEED to be aware of when signing up for this event. Please click the Athlete Guide here to understand the event changes.
Join Trivium Racing for their Thanksgiving weekend tradition! Relax on Thanksgiving and hit the trails for your holiday running race on Black Friday for our half marathon. This race will be taking place on the beautiful trails of Proud Lake State Recreation Area. The trails are well groomed and have very little in the way of hills!
Leave the crowds to the mall, and come on out for a great race. One of the best parts about The Black Toenail Friday Half and 7.5 mile race is that you can sleep in. With an 11:00 AM start time, you can relax and enjoy Thanksgiving knowing you have plenty of time before the starting gun goes off. This event usually sells out, so do not wait until the last minute to sign up!
The half marathon is a two loop half, while the 7.5 mile course is a 1 lap version of the half marathon - same great course, sweatshirt and medal with a lot less work!

There will be tons of parking available right at the starting area, which is in the RV campground, please make sure you use the correct address as the starting line is not near the main entrance!
This is a state park so to enter the state park you will need either a State Park Passport (good at all parks all year) or pay for a one day entry upon arrival. This money will be collected at the gate.
This race takes place during hunting season. Hunters will be warned in the weeks leading up to the race that runners will be coming through. The park has stated that, while they are not concerned (trails are still open to hikers and runners during hunting season and hunters are always aware of this), runners may want to wear bright colors for additional visibility.
Both the Half Marathon and 7.5 mile events will be chip timed. Overall awards will be based on gun time and Age Group awards will be based on chip time.
