Race to the Cave Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Calling all volunteers! We always need fantastic volunteers and we have a volunteer program to help save you some dough. Volunteers who work a 5 hour shift will receive free entry into a future RunningLane Event 1/2 Marathon distance and shorter. Volunteers who work (2) 5 hour shifts or (1) 8+ hour shift will receive free entry into a future RL Event 50 Miler and down OR (2) races 1/2 marathon and down. There are no refunds, credits, deferrals or friend/ family transfers on entries. We do not mail shirts or medals to participants unable to make the event as left over shirts are donated.

Friday, February 28th, 2025 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm @ RunningLane (2407 Memorial Parkway SW, Suite 1, Huntsville AL 35801)
There will be packet pickup on SATURDAY (race morning @ Cathedral Caverns State Park under the tent near the start line) March 1st, 2025 from 6:30-745am for the 5K only. If you live locally please please please make sure you pick up your packet on Friday as the there may be long lines!
Saturday, March 1st, 2025 from 1:00 - 4:00pm @ (2407 Memorial Parkway SW, Suite 1, Huntsville AL 35801)
Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 from 6:30am - 7:45am @ Cathedral Caverns State Park under the tent near the start line - we encourage you to get there as early as possible!

(GPS doesn't register/record inside the Cave) The cave is ~1.2 miles worth of running for both distances!

CUTOFF TIMES:

Half marathon is 4 hours (18:20 mi/pace)
10K is 2.5 hours (25:00 mi/pace)
5K is 1 hour & 15 minutes (25:00mi/ pace)

Aid stations will be provided on the course with everything from water, Gatorade, and GU energy gels.

10K Aid Stations will be at 2.2, 4.3
1/2 Marathon Aid Stations will be at 2.2, 5.5, 8.2, 11.2

Portable Bathrooms will be at: 2.2, 8.2 and 11.2 along the course. There will also be bathrooms at the finish (in the park store)

The race shirt will be a tech long sleeve (unisex sizing) pictured below. 

Age group awards will be: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ for the Half Marathon & 10K.

ALL runners will receive a sweet finisher medal.

After the race, each participant will receive a free pulled pork barbeque sandwich, chips and a drink. 

Other snack options are available for purchase inside the park gift store.

Want a chance to earn back some of that registration fee?
It’s easy - encourage your friends and family to join you for the Race to the Cave races and receive a refund of up to $25 (5 referral registrations for eligible events). Have lots of friends? Sure thing, if 10 friends sign up you will receive $50 refunded back from your registration and so on. 
How does it work?
After you complete your online registration for an eligible in-person event, your confirmation email will contain a unique URL link that you can share with friends and family. Every time that link is used by someone who completes a registration, we’ll keep a tally.
(Note: Referral refunds will be awarded only once you have reached five (5), ten (10) and fifteen (15) referrals. Maximum refund allowed is $75. The amount will be applied to the credit card on file with your RunSignUp account)
How do I participate?
Referrals can only be credited to you when a registration is completed using your unique URL. Make sure your friends and family use your link to get to the registration site!
