About Kelly-Rahn-Turnage (KRT) Fellowship of Physician Assistant Students
Kelly-Rahn-Turnage (KRT) Fellowship of Physician Assistant Students was founded by the inaugural class of UAMS Physician Assistant Program in 2013. This organization was created and is governed by the students. KRT was named after three individuals at UAMS who were instrumental in the development of the PA Program. Patricia Kelly, PhD, PA-C was the founding Chair and Program Director of the PA Program. Daniel Rahn, MD, was the Chancellor of UAMS at that time and was the initial advocate of the program. Richard Turnage, MD, was the founding medical director of the PA Program. However, this is not a comprehensive list of all contributors to the UAMS PA Program, many individuals were influential in its development.
This year the KRT organization will hold its eleventh annual 5K race benefiting the Arkansas Food Bank Food for Kids Program. Since the first race in 2014, the students have donated nearly $75,660 to this program, which has provided 378,000 meals to children throughout Arkansas. The students are passionate about serving their community and are thankful for the many supporters of the race throughout the years that have helped them achieve their goal.
Thank you for your interest in the KRT Fellowship of Physician Assistant Students of UAMS. Any questions about the program or student organization can be directed to the UAMS Physician Assistant Program office at 501-686-7211 or email at PAProgram@uams.edu.
This race benefits the Arkansas Food Bank “Food for Kids” program and increasing awareness about the Physician Assistant profession in Arkansas.
The race takes place each year in October to coincide with National Physician Assistant week. A Physician Assistant is a licensed medical provider who works with the supervision of a physician. PAs prescribe, diagnose, treat, and manage care in almost every patient population making them a vital member of the healthcare team!
If you are unable to participate in the run, you can donate directly to our cause.
