Welcome to the September 27 Catalina St. Park Trail Race: Must Read Event Instructions!!!
Hi All! Please, please, please read this entire event detail email.
Let’s race live once again at Catalina St. Park!!! We’re excited to see you and we’re ready to show you the best time we can under this new abnormal. Please read these race instructions completely. We are going to be held to a high standard by the state and we want to prove to them that we can be the ones to bring your more live events this year. Please be in touch with any questions or concerns.
This year, the race is all about the run and nothing more. Health and safety are our #1 concerns. If you cannot abide by social distancing at all areas of the race, or are not feeling well, please choose the virtual event instead. We will not be issuing transfers or refunds unless you have Covid or are sick.
Directions to Catalina State Park
From the south: take Oracle Rd six miles north of Ina Rd. and turn right at Catalina State Park. The start line and parking lot are 1.8 miles at the end of the main road.
From the north: take Oracle Rd. south one-half mile south of Tangerine Rd. Turn left into the park. The start line and parking lot are 1.8 miles at the end of the main road.
These are the in-person event rules that will be implemented at the race. Packet pick-up and post-race award details are listed after these rules.
1.) All participants must wear a face mask before and after the race. You do not need to wear it while running, except for the entry and exit path of the Birding Trail, which is a more narrow path. It must be worn at all times in the start/finish staging area, parking lot, at the start line, and when you come back to within 50 feet of the finish line. You will have to carry your mask while running so you can put it back on at the finish. Buffs and bandannas are not acceptable. Masks will be available at packet pick-up for the first 100.
2.) We will enforce a policy of 6-10 foot distancing at all times throughout each event.
3.) We are implementing starts in waves of 12 people at a time and in one-minute increments. Waves times/number will be listed on your bib and sent to you in an Excel spread sheet race week. Do expect revisions all the way up to Saturday, September 26. Waves will be mixed with fast/not quite as fast 50/50. If you did not provide your expected time, please email it to us now. Those registering after September 20 will be put in the last waves. 10-miler start time is 6:15am. 5-miler start time is 6:35am.
4.) We ask that do not approach the start area until 3-minutes before your wave. Stay near your cars and please do not congregate in large groups. We will call your wave number and name to enter the start area of 12 runners. Each runner will have a round place-holder to stand next to in the start area.
5.) Runners must distance by at least 8-feet apart of each other during the actual race, and with no spitting or nose blowing allowed.
6.) We will not have water stops, so you will need to carry your own on the course. We will have a limited amount of 16-ounce bottles at the entry to the Nature Trail. If you take one, you must carry it back to the finish line to dispose. Please do not litter on the course.
7.) We will pass out the shirts and your breakfast burrito to-go as you finish the race. We then ask that you head home. No gathering will be allowed near or around the start/finish line.
8.) When you registered for the race, you were required to sign a waiver that you are currently healthy and free of Covid-19 symptoms. This includes up to race day. If you feel the least bit sick, DO NOT come to the race.
Bib pick-up will be held as follows. We will not be offering race day packet pick-up, so we will be offering a full week for you to pick-up your race bib. Friends can pick-up for friends:
September 21, 22, 23 ONLY at Fleet Feet on Tanque Verde, 10am to 6pm. Please note that Fleet Feet only allows a few people in the store at a time, so you may have to wait outside. They will let you know when it's ok to enter. Please be patient. You will only be picking up your bib, which has the timing chip on the back.
September 24 and 25, 10am to 6pm, and September 26, 10am to 2pm, ONLY at Fleet Feet on Oracle Rd. Same details as above.
Please be aware that Fleet Feet only allows a limited number of people in the store, so you might be asked to wait your turn outside. They are doing us a favor by handling packet pick-up, so please be patient and understanding.
Friends can pick-up for friends.
$7 parking passes will be available for purchase at Fleet Feet (cash only).
Awards and Results:
Awards ceremony will be held post-race at 12 noon live on the Everyone Runs Facebook page. Custom medals are only for male and female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in 5-year age groups. Medals will only be available at Fleet Feet on Oracle starting at noon after the race. Again, please do not rush the store all at once. The awards will be there for 15 days. If you need us to send your medal to the Tanque Verde store, please email us and we will make arrangements. This includes raffle prizes, too.
Race results can be found immediately on your phone after you finish the race. Simply go to this link to enable participant tracking: https://runsignup.com/Race/FindARunner/?raceId=31000. We will not be posting results at the race.
