Meet Patrick Taylor

We remember Patrick Taylor as a father, husband, firefighter and Multiple Sclerosis Warrior whose super powers include transforming pain into a greater purpose of helping others. Pat's career in the fire service began in his hometown of Canton, Ohio. While there, Canton's Mayor awarded for saving the life of a young boy whose home was swallowed in flames. Patrick was delighted to ditch the snow for sunshine when he moved to Arizona to continue his career. While in Tucson, Pat worked for Golder Ranch and Drexel Heights fire departments. After retiring from the fire service, Pat was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis but he never let the disease slow him down. Pat began training for the Paralympics and rode 15 miles in his wheelchair on his way to the gym. During those workouts, Pat stopped by charity drives along the way and donated whatever item he could carry on his lap.  That's when Patrick met Lauren Burgoyne, a Tucson, news reporter who was inspired by Patrick's story of transforming pain into a Greater Purpose of helping others. The two became instant friends and shared a passion for exalting the stories of real-life superheroes. Patrick and Lauren set out on a mission to connect people to their Greater Purpose of serving their local and global communities, and the nonprofit, The Greater Purpose Project was born.  We lost Patrick in 2015 but his legacy lives on in The Greater Purpose Project 501 (c) (3) organization.

Last year, The Greater Purpose Project School Heroes Program engaged more than 1700 students in Greater Purpose Projects!
