COVID-19 Precautions & Procedures

The following policies and procedures are based on current recommendations for COVID-19 safety protocols and are subject to change at any time.

What RRRC will be doing:

  • All volunteers will be required to wear a mask while in the start/finish area and when interacting with participants and volunteers at check-in and along the course. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available for usage throughout the event including at packet pick-up, water stops, portable toilets, and in the start/finish area.
  • Post-race food and a beverage will be provided in individual bags for pick up by each participant when leaving the finish area.
  • Race directors and volunteers will be enforcing procedures for wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.


RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile Trail Run changes for 2020:

Race participant cap is 200 runners/walkers.


  • There will be drive-by check-in and packet pick up.
  • Participants should remain at their cars away from the start/finish area until 10 minutes before your assigned start time block.
  • Runners should wear a mask and remain socially distant while waiting to be invited into your start corral.  
  • There will be a limited number of portable toilets available near the start/finish area. We encourage you to use the restroom prior to arriving onsite at the event. Hand sanitizer will be available for use before and after entering the toilet. 

Start area

  • The race will start and finish from a fenced area in the trailhead parking area.
  • All participants (runners and volunteers) must wear a mask in the start/finish area.
  • The race will be chip timed and we'll use staggered starts.
  • The start area will have a marked area for each runner to maintain social distance from each other.
  • A corral of 15 runners will move into the start area every 5 minutes. Within each corral, 5 runners will start every minute.
  • The first corral will form at 8:25 and start running at 8:30 AM.  
  • No spectators are allowed in the start/finish area.

On the course

  • Runners may choose to remove their mask once they have crossed the start line.  
  • All participants must bring their own personal hydration system (bottle, cup, bladder, etc.) to use during the race. 
  • Water stops will have coolers (handsfree activation) with water for you to refill your bottle, cup, or bladder. There are NO CUPS. Hand sanitizer will be available at each water stop.
  • When passing any participant on the course, please provide warning to the runner ahead of you and allow as much space as possible as you pass. 

Finish area

  • Runners must put on a mask after crossing the finish line.
  • Volunteers will direct participants to head back to their cars promptly upon finishing.
  • Post-race food and beverage will be pre-packaged together in the finish area and you can pick up your package as you leave the finish area.
  • No spectators are allowed in the start/finish area.

Participants at increased risk for COVID-19. Per CDC guidelines the following groups are considered to be at a higher risk for contracting COVID-19. If any of these apply to you, we ask that you take the increased risk into consideration before registering:
