Course
Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot starts and finishes inside of City Center Bishop Ranch at Alexander Square. The course travels a loop and then heads out around Lake Annabel, along Bishop Drive, Executive Parkway, then through the gardens by Lake Cecilia. The course finishes by taking you along the sidewalk along Camino Ramon and Bishop Drive back into City Center.
The course terrain is a mix of road, sidewalk, hard packed trail and light trail path. Where there is trail path, there is also a paved bike lane alternative strollers and wheelchairs. The one exception is a section of trail on the West side of Anabelle Lake of about 100 yards. The course is flat to rolling. For strollers and wheelchairs, the course avoids traffic speed bumps except for two in the very first kilometer of the race.
If you are running the Fast Turkey, you will be running the competition course, which includes all trail sections. That's your race. It will take you back to your glory days in High School Cross Country!
For those of you running the Festive 5k, on Bishop Drive you may take your choice of light trail path or bike lane. This option will be marked with signs. If you choose to be in the bike lane, take care to cede to strollers and wheelchairs if you are in bike lanes.
For Sträva users, this link gives a detail of the course based on a clean run of the course. Please note that the distance of this Strava chart is 3.16 miles. The course measures 3.11. For some reason Strava's settings measure long.
