CXC4L is proud to announce that we will be hosting the Newark Mile again this year. The race will be taking place along its traditional 2.5 mile (4km) course along the Newark Days parade route (see course map below for more detail). We are pleased to be hosting the 38th running of this local Newark favorite in partnership with the Newark Days Celebration!
After the race, stick around to enjoy the rest of the Newark Days such as carnival rides, parade, live entertainment, food festival, car show, and an arts & crafts faire.
There are several categories of awards given out at the Newark Mile.
The age groups are: 0 to 14, 15 to 25, 26 to 35, 36 to 45, 46 to 55, 56 to 65, and 66 & over.
The start and finish line is at the intersection of Chapman and Cedar in front of the Newark Community Center. The race starts on the eastbound side of Cedar Blvd with a leftward U turn onto the westbound side of Cedar near Lake Blvd. Then, it continues with a left turn onto the northbound side of Newark Blvd and a leftward U turn near Musick Ave remaining on the northbound direction of Newark Blvd. The last turn is back on to the eastbound side of Cedar Blvd for the finish.
Parking in Newark Days lots will not be available as they will be blocked due to the closures of Cedar and Newark Blvds. for the Newark Mile and Newark Days Parade. Participants and spectators are advised to park on residential streets. We recommend that participants and spectators who live in the surrounding residential area walk or bike to the race.
