Start at the Pier, finish at the Pier! A fast 5K & 1 Mile Race/Walk. A unique experience with access to fitness expo, sampling from various local shops and eateries by showing your bib at sponsored locations. Enjoy other festivities on the world famous Venice Beach Pier at the finish line celebration party. 

All participants will receive a commemorative die-cast VBR 5K or 1 Mile Finisher Medal, premium multi color beach t-shirt, and string bag. Access to the sampling and exhibitor booths. 

Race To The Pier 1 Mile is open to youth and adults. This is for those of you who are speed oriented and want to test yourself at this popular distance. Proceeds benefiting the Los Angeles Parks Foundation (www.LAParksFoundation.org) to help fund the Venice Beach Center programs.

SAME DAY PACKET PICK UP AT EVENT SITE 

Starts at | 6:00 AM and closes 15 minutes prior to each race start. 

5K Races begin at | 7:00 AM

Awards Ceremony 
You can pick up your awards at the conclusion of each race in the parking lot area just outside the pier near the stage. 

Finish Line Celebration
At the conclusion of the races, you will be able to enter the Venice Beach Pier. Please allow all the runners to finish. The pier will be congested.

7:00 AM: Masters Women - 40 min cut off (40  years and older) 

7:50 AM: Masters Men - 40 min cut off 40  years and older) 

8:40 AM: Open Women - 40 min cut off

9:30 AM: Open Men - 40 min cut off

10:30 AM: People’s Race - - 65 min cut off

11:45 PM: 1 Mile Wave 1

12:00 PM: 1 Mile Wave 2

Race Info

Course Description
5K is flat and fast. Starts and Finishes inside at the end of the Venice Beach Pier about 600 yards into the ocean. The remainder of the course will cover the historic Venice Beach Board Walk.

The 1 mile will start on the Boardwalk and finish inside at the end of the pier. 

Starting Line
Runners are encouraged to begin lining up no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of their Race.
Line up according to your expected race pace. Faster runners should be positioned at the front of the start chute, while slower runners/walkers/ strollers start on the back. The goal is to have the start flow nice and safely. Remember you are being chip timed.

Recovery Water Stations
Water will be available at the halfway mark on the route and at the finish/start. Electrolytes at the finish line.

First Aid Support
We will have a roving first aid team available to cover the main portion of the 5K. First aid station also available in the main expo area.

Finish Line
Finish Line is located near the expo area.

Elite Field

Interested runners who want to participate in the elite field must be cleared by the event director, Jose Luis Zavala. E-mail you inquiry to Jose@AztlanAthletics.org.

Guidelines: 

1. Cut-off registration for the field is July 10th 
2. Must provide a completed w-9 
3. Must post the event on your social media page, share and like the event at least 2 times one week apart "Join me as I try to Conquer The Pier at the Venice Beach 5K..." 
4. Provide Bio with personal best times: 
5. Must remain for awards ceremony 
6. Must be available for interview if applicable 
7. Must consent to pictures being taken for marketing purposes. 
8. Must have the following time standards
       a.Male Elite | Under 14:30
       b. Female Elite | Under 16:00 

Packet Pick up

Includes a premium t-shirt, finisher medal and string bag. Access to sponsored sampling establishments in the Venice Beach Area. 

Same-day registration is located in the main expo parking area located near the entrance to the pier. 

Starts at 6:00 A.M.

REGISTRATION CLOSES 10 minutes prior to each race start. 

In Person day-before registration is located at

REI, 4655 Admiralty Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, from 12:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. 

NOTE: The Venice Beach Pier will be closed until 1:00 P.M. to registered participants only. You must have you bib in order to enter the area.  

Bracelets to enter the pier during this time can be purchased in the registration area for $20.00. 

Parking

Allow plenty of time to get to the registration area and pick up your bib & t-shirt. Arrive early and factor in traffic to ensure you make it to the start line on time. 

There is plenty of parking around the Venice Beach area and in the neighboring streets. Limited paid parking is available on a first come first serve basis at the entrance of the pier. 

General parking: 1800 Ocean Front Walk Venice, CA 90291 

Exhibitors / Vendors: You can only access the designated parking area by showing the pass provided or being checking in. The staff at the main entrance from Washington & 1800 Ocean Front Walk will direct you to the drop off area and parking space.
