12th Annual Courage Triathlon
Race to End Trafficking. Run With Purpose. Move With Courage.
Saturday, August 15, 2026 | Lake Almanor Country Club | 10:00 AM Start
For twelve years, the Courage Triathlon has united athletes, families, and advocates around a cause that demands our attention: the fight against child sex trafficking. What began as a local race has grown into a movement — and this year, we're taking it further than ever.
The 12th Annual Courage Triathlon returns to the stunning shores of Lake Almanor, and this year, we're opening registration to virtual participants nationwide. Whether you're standing at the start line or lacing up your sneakers a thousand miles away, you're part of this fight.
The Course
Run - 2.8 Miles - Scenic road run
Bike - 6.4 Miles - Road cycling course
Row - 3.1 Miles - Kayak or paddleboard
From the adrenaline of a our scenic run and ride through the pines to the rhythm of your paddle cutting across the glassy surface of Lake Almanor, every leg of this course is designed to challenge your body and renew your purpose.
You're not just racing — you're running toward a world where every child is safe.
How to Participate
Solo: Take on all three legs yourself — run, bike, and row the full course at Lake Almanor.
Team Relay: Split the triathlon among two or three teammates. Each member completes one or more legs of the race. Grab your friends, your family, or your coworkers and race together.
Virtual: Can't make it to Lake Almanor? Now you don't have to. Register as a virtual participant and log your own activities, distances, and times — on your schedule, from wherever you are.
We want you to join us in person, however we know that distance should not discourage your heart for supporting Courage. The beauty of virtual participation is that it meets you where you are. Want to run five miles through your neighborhood to show your support? Log it. Planning to paddleboard for two hours around your local marina? We'd love to hear about it. Prefer a walk around the block with your kids and the dog? That counts, too. Every step, every stroke, every mile matters.
Post your photos on Instagram, tag @CourageWorldwide, and let's show the world what a nationwide community of courage looks like. This year, we want to see evidence of support for child survivors from coast to coast.
Why We Race
Every registration, every mile logged, and every dollar raised goes directly toward the mission of Courage Worldwide — an organization dedicated to providing residential housing and comprehensive therapeutic services for child survivors of sex trafficking. These are children who have endured unimaginable trauma, and Courage Worldwide exists to offer them safety, healing, and a future worth fighting for.
When you cross the finish line — whether that's at Lake Almanor or at the end of your driveway — you're telling a survivor that they are seen, they are valued, and they are not alone.

You will need to present your proof of registration — either on your phone or in printed form — at one of the two gates, located on Clifford Dr. and Peninsula Dr. Your proof of registration will be emailed to you in the days leading up to the race.
Friday, August 14 — Packet Pickup (Strongly Recommended)
We strongly encourage all participants to pick up their packets the evening before the race to make Saturday morning as smooth as possible. Packet pickup will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Clifford's Restaurant and Sugar Pine Lounge inside the Lake Almanor Country Club (951 Clifford Dr., Westwood, CA 96137).
What you'll receive in your packet:
- Timing chip
- Race bib
- Equipment identification stickers
- Race essentials
What to do after pickup:
Your bib and equipment stickers must be attached to your bike, kayak, and/or paddleboard for identification purposes before the start of the event. We also encourage participants to decorate or mark their equipment with something personal so it can be easily spotted during rushed transitions — a piece of colored tape, a unique sticker, whatever helps you find your gear fast.
Staging your water equipment Friday evening:
After picking up your packet at Clifford's, you can drive the short distance to Rec 2 to drop off your kayak or paddleboard the night before the race. This is the best way to ease race morning chaos. Before dropping off your watercraft, make sure you have:
- Attached your equipment identification stickers
- Left all necessary gear (flotation vest, whistle) with your kayak/paddleboard
You will place your own equipment in our designated staging areas. Rest easy knowing we have a dedicated team of individuals stationed next to your equipment to guard it overnight.
Note: Bikes are NOT dropped off Friday evening. Bikes will be staged at Rec 1 on race morning. Please reference our map of the LACC below for the locations of Rec 1 and Rec 2.
Saturday, August 15 — Race Day
For Those Who Picked Up Packets Friday
If you completed all your Friday steps, your race morning is simple: arrive at Rec 1, stage your bike (along with your helmet and any other cycling gear), and you're good to go.
For Those Who Need Race Day Packet Pickup
Packet pickup begins at 8:00 AM at Rec 1 inside the LACC. Your first priority should be picking up your timing chip and packet. From there, attach your identification stickers to all equipment and follow the same drop-off instructions listed above for Friday evening. Give yourself plenty of time — there's a lot to do before the starting horn.
Race Morning Timeline
- 8:00 AM — Race day packet pickup opens at Rec 1
- 9:00 AM — Opening ceremonies begin at Rec 1
- 10:00 AM — Race starts
Shuttle Service
At the start of the race, a shuttle will transport kayak/paddleboard team members to Rec 2 so they're in position and ready when the timing chip reaches them.
During the Race
We'll have photographers stationed along the course capturing the action, and we post all photos to our social media pages. Unlike other sporting events, we won't charge you a dime for your pictures — they're all yours.
After You Finish
Please be courteous to our dedicated volunteers and promptly retrieve your bike from Rec 2 upon completing the race. If you are a bike team member, please ride your bike the mile back to Rec 1 after completing the cycling loop and passing off your timing chip to your teammate.
