Join families affected by histiocytosis for our final year in Yosemite as we take on two mighty challenges:
  • Raising $200,000 to help fund a cure for histiocytosis, and
  • Take one last big hike to the Half Dome cables!
It has been a long hard journey these past 20 years.
Join us in celebrating our success in fighting for a cure for histiocytosis.

Step by Step, together we reach our goal.

About the Hike

Please join us for our 21st and final Hike For A Cure in Yosemite. As we did for our first ten years, we will be hiking together to the cables at the base of Half Dome. You'll be part of a very special group of family and friends working together to raise funds to find a cure for histiocytosis.

Saturday night we have a group dinner, followed by a fun kickoff presentation in the Curry Village amphitheater.  Sunday morning we leave before dawn. With each step on the 17 mile hike we are reminded of the exhausting, seemingly never-ending journey faced by those fighting histiocytosis. The hike is hard - no doubt. Fighting histiocytosis is so much harder.

Sunday night over dinner we celebrate success and then say our goodbyes to our histio friends at breakfast Monday morning. Back at home, school or work you will have many stories to share with your sponsors - not just about the hike itself, but also about the "Histio Heroes" and families that you met.

In partnership with the Histio Cure Foundation (HCF) our goal has always been to have a cure for histiocytosis in place by 2021. On Saturday you'll hear from the doctors that HCF has been funding about their success in finding a cure for this rare disease.

We look forward to seeing you in Yosemite for this celebration of success!
Ron, Colleen and Anton

About Us

When our son Anton (center) was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) three months after his birth our world was in turned upside down. In those days the survival rate for infants with the disease was less than 50%. It was a very hard time for us.

We were incredibly grateful that he survived this battle, and came away determined to help those that would have to follow us down this difficult path. With the support of our family and friends we created Hike For A Cure in 2001 to raise money to fund the research that would lead to a cure for histiocytosis. In the 20 years since that first hike the participants on Hike For A Cure have raised $2.2M!

Our goal has always been clear: to have a cure for histiocytosis in place by 2021.
This is THE BIG YEAR! Please join us for our final Hike For A Cure in Yosemite - as a hiker or a sponsor. All donations go to the Histio Cure Foundation, which sends 100% of those funds directly to researchers focused on histicytosis. Together we will fund a cure!

Hike Weekend Detail

Departing before dawn and hiking 17 miles and 4800 vertical feet in one day is an intense physical challenge. Yet in the company of enthusiastic friends, family and kids you will be surprised by what you can accomplish. Along the way the way are remarkable vistas and lunch spots that can make for a great personal summit for the day.

Our goal is to come together as a community to accomplish something bigger than any one of us: an daunting physical challenge and an equally tough financial goal. In joining us and achieving your own physical and fundraising goal you will be making a difference in your own life and the lives of those fighting histiocytosis.
