Colorado's ONLY stadium obstacle race
#cerusarena

Categories

Description

Cerus Arena is Colorado's ONLY stadium obstacle race that is designed to challenge all fitness levels and athletes. This is a race like no other – it's fun, competitive, kid and family friendly, and leaves participants with a sense of pride and triumph.

The race will take you up & down the stairs of Weidner Field, along the sideline of the soccer field, and through various fitness challenges along the way.

There are 10 laps. Each lap, you'll run approximately 500m around the stadium before entering a fitness zone. Each fitness zone will consist of 2 movements that you have to complete before continuing on your next lap through the stadium. Fitness zones consist of functional fitness movements & cardio machines, as well as a few obstacles that you might see on an OCR course (monkey bars, ring swings, 6' walls, etc.). Here are a few movements you can expect to see:

  • 500m row
  • sled push
  • 6' wall
  • monkey bars
  • jump rope skips
  • 500m ski erg
  • calories on a Rogue Echo bike

Waves

We'll run the Elite waves first, starting at 8:00am. Elite athletes will be released in groups of 5 or 6. The men will go first, closest to 8:00am. Once all men have been released, we'll start the elite women. All elite waves should be launched before 8:45-9:00am.

This wave is for elite athletes, consistent age group podium finishers in hybrid events & OCR (HYROX, DEKA FIT, Spartan, etc.), and anyone who wants to throw their hat in the ring and compete with the best.

Around 9:00am, the Competitive waves will start. They will run until 10 or 10:30, depending on the number of registrants.

This wave is for athletes who typically compete within their age group. The top 3 finishers in each age group will receive podium medals. No prize money is awarded.

Elite & Competitive waves are required to provide your most recent 5k time (or predicted 5k time on race day) during registration. We'll use this information to help prevent bottle necks at the stations.

Around 10-10:30am, the Recreational & Kids waves will start. These will be combined so that parents can run with their kids. We'll have room to launch around 50 athletes every 30 minutes. You will be asked to choose a 30-minute block during registration.

This wave is for athletes just looking to experience the course & have a great time. You will receive a finishers medal, but no podium recognition. Kids waves are restricted to ages 5-12.

Fitness Zones

Here's what you can expect at each of the 10 fitness zones on Weidner Field.

If you participated last year, we've removed the sandbag thrusters and added a sled pull. All other movements are the same as last year.

Course Map

Athletes will start behind the stands of Weidner Field. They will continue underneath the stands for a long straight away, then enter onto the turf. This is where you will complete the movements in the fitness zones. After completing a 100' burpee broad jump & navigating over 6' wall, you will exit the turf and head into the stands. From there, you'll run up and down the stands a few times, before returning to the starting corral. You'll run over the mat to calculate your split time, and continue on for 9 more laps, hitting the next fitness zone each time.

After completing the Tarzan rope rig in the final zone, you will sprint across the finish line, high five your friends, and grab your finishers medal.
