Battle by the Brook Adventure Race
The 8th Annual Battle by the Brook Adventure Race will be held on September 20th, 2025 at Camp Shady Brook, in Deckers, CO. This is our favorite fundraiser! With your adventurous nature and philanthropist's heart, registering for this event allows more kids to attend camp at YMCA Camp Shady Brook. Adventures for everyone!
Each team will race in a variety of endurance disciplines, including orienteering/navigation, cross-country running/hiking, mountain biking, paddling and other unique challenges for Adventure Racing. Athletes can look forward to a swag bag, race vendor prize raffle, campfire with smores, and end of the race cookout and drinks. Be prepared for an amazing day!
Teams: Each Competitive team will consist of 1 - 4 athletes. Family divisions - 2 - 6 people, split into with bike or without bike categories. Arc'Teryx Mini-Series teams must compete in 2 of three participating RMAS races; GENESIS, NEVER SUMMER, and Battle by the Brook.
Limited Space: Space is limited so register soon!
Awards: Awards will be given to the top team in each division. All participants will receive a swag bag and race gift (TBD).
Mileage Information

Competitive - Approximately 20 miles total. (8 miles of biking on single track trail as well as dirt road, 3 miles of hiking with significant elevation gain, 9 miles of running/navigating/orienteering to different challenges). Competitive completed in 6+ hours.

Family wave is approximately 6 miles. Families have the option to mountain bike portions or may hike/run the entire course. Family race completed in 3-4 hours.

Arc'Teryx Mini-Series. Compete in 2 of three races to qualify for the Grand Prize. Genesis (6 & 12 hour courses), Never Summer (6 & 24 hour) and Battle by the Brook.
Battle y the Brook is a USARA-sanctioned event. Racers must either have an annual USARA membership or purchase a single-event license through RunSignUp. Annual membership is instrumental in sustaining USARA’s efforts to support the US-based AR community and host an annual National Championship. In addition to supporting the community as a whole and having single-event fees waived, annual membership includes access to ExpertVoice, an incredible resource for athletes that unlocks pro-deals to hundreds of name-brands. - Compass Bike tool kit (including bike pump) and at least one spare bike tube

Directions to Camp Shady Brook
From Colorado Springs: (Approximately 70 minutes) Take highway 24 west to Woodland Park, at Woodland Park, take a right on Highway 67 North towards Deckers. Stay on Highway 67 for approximately 23 miles, at Deckers, take a hard left onto Y Camp Road (dirt road). The road dead-ends at the camp parking lot.
From Denver: (Approximately 90 minutes) Take Highway 285 West to Route 126 at Pine Junction, Turn south (left) onto Highway 126/S. Pine Valley Road towards Deckers. Stay on Highway 126 for approximately 25 miles, in Deckers, take a hard right onto Y Camp Road (dirt road). The road dead-ends at the camp parking lot.
