Event 1 of the 2023 CerusGym Series
Solo + Team Relay = Discount
Sign up for both the Solo AND the Team Relay and receive 15% off your Solo registration.
You might want to choose an earlier start time for the Solo event to give yourself time to recover. We start Team Relay heats as soon as all Solo athletes have finished.
DryTri Solo
The DryTri Solo event consists of one person participating in the entire triathlon. A single athlete will row, bike, and run for 15 minutes each. There is 1 minute of transition time between stations. This equates to 45 minutes of work and 2 minutes of transition time, for a total of a 47-minute event.
What You Get
You will receive:
- a race medal
- a goodie bag with items from our sponsors
The Race Format
15:00 -- Row
1:00 -- Transition
15:00 -- Bike
1:00 -- Transition
15:00 -- Run
Row
You will have time to set up your rower to your desired settings, adjust the screen, etc. If you need any help, volunteers will be available.
You will start the event seated on your rower, with your feet strapped in. You may not touch the handle until a volunteer starts your wave. A volunteer will give you a "3, 2, 1, go" countdown. At the sound of "go," you may begin rowing. When you are approaching the end of 15 minutes, a volunteer will count down, "3, 2, 1, time." When you hear "time," you must stop rowing and return the handle to its starting position. Meters may continue to accrue after you have stopped rowing, and those meters WILL count towards your score (aka: rollover meters count).
Once your meters come to a stop, a volunteer will write down the number of meters shown on your screen.
Bike
You will have 1 minute to transition to the bike. A volunteer will again count down, and when you hear "go," you may begin biking. The resistance on all bikes will be set to a predetermined amount. It will be the same for all athletes. Generally speaking, the resistance is very low.
When time is called, you must stop biking. A volunteer will write down the number of meters on your screen. Bike screens will display in tenths of kilometers, so your score will be in an increment of 100 meters. Ex: If your screen reads 11.2km, your score is 11,200 meters.
Run
You will have 1 minute to transition to the run. A volunteer will again count down, and when you hear "go," you will tap the "Quick Start" button on your treadmill. A 3 second countdown will occur, and then your treadmill will start at 0.5 mph. Our treadmills allow you to adjust the speed in tenths of mph increments, as well as manually enter a specific mph. You are responsible for adjusting your speed as you see fit. You can make as many changes to your speed as you'd like, up or down, for the entirety of the 15 minutes. If you need help understanding how to work your treadmill, volunteers will be available to assist you.
- Aside from adjusting your speed, only your feet are allowed to make contact with the treadmill.
- For your distance to count, your feet must remain in contact with the moving tread. If your treadmill is moving and you are resting on the sides or completely off the treadmill, you will be penalized.
- You may not touch or hold onto the handrails or the screen in front of you while the treadmill is moving.
- You may run forwards, backwards, or sideways/shuffle. You may run, walk, skip, dance, etc... as long as your feet are constantly making contact with the moving tread.
- For safety reasons, if you need to stop your treadmill or step off, please do so at your discretion. There is a red STOP button on the screen. You will have 60 seconds to decide if you want to continue with your run. If you want to continue, press the RESUME button. Once 60 seconds is up, whatever distance you have covered up to that point will be your score for the run.
When time is called, you must hit the red STOP button on the screen. This will end your run. A volunteer will write down your distance in miles. It will be converted to meters, and added to your score.
The sum of meters from all three stations will be your total score. Highest score wins.
DryTri Team Relay
The DryTri Team Relay consists of the same three stations as the Solo event, only you complete it as a team of 3. Athlete 1 will row for 15 minutes. Athlete 2 will bike for 15 minutes. And Athlete 3 will run for 15 minutes. There is still 1 minute of transition time between stations.
- All teams must have at least 1 male and 1 female (MMF and FFM are both acceptable; FFF and MMM are not acceptable)
- On race morning, you decide which athlete will complete each station
- Teammates are allowed & encouraged to cheer each other on, but may not provide physical assistance in any way. The space will be tight so please be considerate of your fellow competitors.
The Race Format
15:00 -- Athlete 1 Rows
1:00 -- Transition
15:00 -- Athlete 2 Bikes
1:00 -- Transition
15:00 -- Athlete 3 Runs
The rules for the Solo division for all three stations still apply.
The sum of meters from all three stations will be your total score. Highest score wins.
