Bunny Boogie Converted to VIRTUAL Race

In light of the CDC's recommendation that no public gatherings of more than 50 people be held for the next 8 weeks in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we must regrettably cancel this year's Bunny Boogie - at least the actual physical race in Darien.

We will be offering the following three options:

1. Run the Virtual Bunny Boogie, using GPS or similar system, submit your time by the deadline using system to be setup, and we will post results and mail you your shirt the following week (sorry, the chocolate bunnies we give as prizes probably won't survive mailing - they'll either melt or get eaten by the postman!). We're hoping many of you choose this option, as Virtual Races may be the only type of racing anyone may be doing for quite a while. But in addition to giving runners a chance to get out and push themselves a bit and compare times with others, Virtual Races will act as financial life preservers for all of those in the running industry who are being seriously impacted by the current crisis. Think of Virtual Races as the running equivalent of take out orders at restaurants.

2. Transfer your entry to the 4 on the 4th race in New Canaan on July 4, or next year's edition of the Bunny Boogie.

3. Issue refund of your entry fee minus the processing fee. (This will take place 30 days after the race date, due to entry fees being held in a reserve escrow until then).

This is a trying time for runners and race organizers alike, as well as society in general, and we appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Here Are Your Options:

Virtual races happen all the time, and allow you to join the fun without the crowds - and they might be the only races happening for the foreseeable future. You simply run the distance on your own, and report your results - we’ll send you instructions. We'll mail you your shirt right after the race.

Please indicate whether you would like a refund, or have your entry transferred to the Four on the Fourth in New Canaan on July 4. Refunds will be issued 30 days after the scheduled date due to the fees being held in a reserve escrow until then by the registration company.

We will transfer your registration to the Four on the Fourth in New Canaan, or next year's edition of the Bunny Boogie. Once we do this, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to upgrade from a T-shirt to a tech shirt if desired (Four on the Fourth only). Thanks for your patience!

RUN SOLO!

Remember to run your three miles by yourself, or if you must have someone along, be sure to maintain proper Social Distance while running. Thanks!

Description

In light of the CDC's recommendation that no public gatherings of more than 50 people be held for the next 8 weeks in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we have regrettably had to cancel this year's Bunny Boogie.

HOWEVER, you can still "run" this holiday tradition virtually!

Actual Course

For those of you in Fairfield County who would like to run the actual physical course at Darien's Pear Tree Point, it is subtly marked with small pink arrows and numbers. The start is marked with a small "S" on the south side of Long Neck Point Rd. a few hundred yards past Pear Tree Point Rd. Since the beach is locked, we've relocated the finish, marked with a small "F" on the right side Pear Tree Point Rd. just before it bears left up the hill. A map of the traditional course is attached.

There is no parking at the beach or on adjacent roads; we suggest you park in the small dirt lot at the intersection of Long Neck and Pear Tree (just past the bridge) and walk or jog up Long Neck to the start.
