WICC The Surfside Hotel "Blues Are Running" 5K

WICC and The Surfside Hotel invite you to the kick off the "Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth" with a 5K twilight race raising money for SoundWaters.

The WICC & Surfside Hotel BLUES ARE RUNNING 5K - our inaugural event is hosted by WICC, The Surfside Hotel & Little Pub in the Lordship section of Stratford. The Surfside Hotel & Little Pub overlooks Long Island Sound as does most of the course!

Join us Tuesday, August 20th for a great Tuesday night of fun, food & froth, followed by a scenic sunset.

Run or walk our beautiful 5K (3.11mi) course overlooking Long Island Sound.
 
Sponsored by WICC, The Surfside Hotel & Little Pub, this event will have a strict cutoff at 250 people. Register early, enjoy the beach and views, run/walk or saunter our very flat and scenic out and back roads, followed by snacks & adult beverages (21+ only). Plenty of N/A options available too.

Size guaranteed classic t-shirts by 8/10 (after 8/10 'as available' and we could run out! Don't be disappointed).

We encourage ALL abilities to join us. Everyone completing the full 5K is eligible for awards based on their computer time.

AWARDS: The TOP 3 Male & Female Finishers overall will receive prizes.

Age group awards are NOT being given at  this time but could change with additional sponsor partners. Watch this site for updates. 

RAFFLE: Every participant will be automatically entered into the raffle as part of their race fees. Additional raffle tickets MAY be sold to raise funds for SoundWaters.

Surfside will provide a hotel stay as the grand prize, and Little Pub will offer tickets to a Wednesday night Clambake as the second prize.

POST RACE FOOD AND BEVERAGE: As part of the entrant's race fees, Little Pub will offer each racer a choice between a Little Pub lucky lager draft beer or a Surfside bluefish rum punch, including a non-alcoholic option. We will also have DEL MARE pizza, snacks, chips & more.  

NEW ADDITION! The Lordship lobster truck will be open for pre /post 5K sales of lobster rolls (hot & cold), hot dogs, hush puppies, beer, wine, and more! Invite your friends, families and perfect strangers to join us for a great “after” picnic ! 

EVENT TIMELINE:

7/7: Registration Opens  $30 till 8/10 ($25 for 20 & under) 

8/11: Guaranteed shirt size ends- We may not have many extra so REGISTER IN TIME!

8/12: Registration fee increases to $35 through 8/20  ($25 for 20 & under)

8/19: Early bib/shirt pickup at Little Pub picnic lot 4-6pm  Get there & avoid race day stress.

8/20: 5:00 pm   Event afternoon pickup starts at the Little Pub picnic lot (across from the Little Pub and SURFSIDE Hotel 

• 6:15pm  FREE kids run directed by Donna Cramond (Retired professional cat herder)
• 6:25pm  Introductions, announcements, line up
• 6:30pm  START! WICC & Surfside Hotel “The Blues Are Running” 5K run/walk
• 6:45pm  Snacks, pizza, adult & N/a drinks, giveaways, awards - till sunset & beyond...
• 7:43pm  Sunset, but it stays light till 8:30pm AND our venue is lighted!
