Changes Coming For Road Runners Summer Series!

Thanks to all of you who responded to our post-race survey. In response to you answers, we will be making some changes to next year's Series.

First, the Series will begin and end a week earlier than in the past - the first race will be June 26, and the concluding 10 miler will be August 28, nine rather than two days before Labor Day.

Second, the last five races, the 5.85 miler through 10 miler, will begin 30 minutes earlier, at 7:30 AM. This should help everyone avoid hotter temperatures and heavier traffic, as well as allowing an earlier start on your weekend activities.

Finally, the eighth race, the 8.4 miler, will move from Burying Hill to Compo Beach. This should eliminate crowding issues with parking and most importantly, bathrooms.

Reminders will be sent out before all these events, but we just wanted to give you a heads-up. We're also working on some of the other suggestions, such as post-race food and Gatorade at the longer races, but the overall feel of the oldest running Series in the state will remain. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Longshore the last Saturday of June 2027!

Please Check In!

All runners need to check in with one of the volunteers before each race. This is especially important if you have registered for individual races rather than the Series. It lets us know how many runners are on the course, and assists in results scoring. The process is quick and easy, especially if you have your bib from a previous race.

Also, if you register for individual races you MUST be registered for any race you run - your prior registrations do not carry over, and you will not be scored!

If you register for single races, it is IMPERATIVE that you register for each race you are going to run. Several people register for a single race early in the Series and then show up at subsequent races without having registered. This causes them to be shown as an Unknown finisher when their bib is read at the finish. It takes unnecessary time for race organizers to look up these numbers in an earlier race and then enter them in the current event. In the future, we will not do this and your name will not appear in the results, since technically you are not in the race.

It is fine, in fact encouraged, for you to reuse your bib from earlier races, but you MUST register and check in for any subsequent race.

Awards

Custom T-shirts to the first three male and female finishers who have not previously won at each race.

Additionally, the top five finishers in each age group will earn points on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis that will be added toward Series Grand Prix awards (T-shirts and medals) for the top three in each age group to be given out after the concluding 10 mile race. In addition any runner placing in the top 10 finishers overall who did not finish in the top three in their age division will also be awarded a medal and T-shirt.
