CYPRESS RUN - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

What activities and races will occur at the Cypress Run?
The event includes a 5K Run, 5K Walk (non-competitive, not-timed) and Community Dash! We also invite the community to participate in the Health & Fun Expo located on the Civic Center Green.

What is the Community Dash?
This .3 mile course is open to all ages to register. The dash encourages everyone to get healthy together.

Do I have to register for a race to attend the Health & Fun Expo?
No, everyone is invited this free event from 7:00-10:00AM on the Civic Center Green.

Where can I pick up my bib, shirt & bag?
You can ONLY pick up your items on either Friday, October 4 from 4:00-6:00 PM or Saturday, October 5 from 6:00-7:00 AM at the Cypress Civic Center, 5275 Orange Avenue, on the grass in front of City Hall, between the Library and Council Chambers.

Can I pick up another athlete’s packet (bib, shirt & bag)?
Yes, as long as they have previously registered and you have their exact name and race in which they are participating.

Where do the races begin?
The races begin on Grindlay Street just south of Orange Avenue.

When will the street closures take place?
There will be intermittent street closures from 2:30 – 9:30 AM on Race Day to ensure the safety of all of our participants. A list of the closures can be found on the city website at Cypressrec.org

Where is the best place to park?
Parking is available at both City Hall on Grindlay Street, just north of Orange Avenue, at LDS church on Orange Avenue, just west of Grindlay Street, in the surrounding neighborhoods, Cypress Senior Center and the Cypress Community Center.

What time does the race start?
Pre-race stretch on the grass in front of City Hall, between the library and the Council Chambers: 6:15 AM
Races start time: 7:00 AM – 5K Run/Walk start (walkers line up towards the back)
8:00 AM – Community Dash (youngest participant’s line up towards the back)

Do you have a place to put my keys and belongings?
Personal Item Storage near the First Aid station on the grass in front of City Hall, between the Library and Council Chambers

Where is the First Aid?
Near the Finish Line & Personal Item Storage on the grass in front of City Hall, between the Library and Council Chambers.

Where are the restrooms?
Porta-Potties are located in front of the Library off Orange Avenue and there are outdoor restrooms near the Library.

Where and when are the 5K Run results posted?
Results will be posted at the registration area on the on the grass in front of City Hall, between the Library and Council Chambers on laptops and after the race on cypressrec.org/run.

Who gets medals?
Participation medals are given at the finish line to each registered participant (guaranteed for preregistration only)
Winner Medals - Top 3 finishers in each division and each age group for both 5K Runs.

Where and what time is the award ceremony?
There is no awards ceremony, you can pick up your 5K Run winner medals at the registration area as soon as the official results are available.

How can I get my medal if I can’t stay or forget to pick it up?
You may pick up your medal at the Community Center, 5700 Orange Avenue M-F 8:00 AM-5:00 PM beginning on Monday, October 7th.
