Dash for Dignity

Sun November 5, 2023

2020 Location Options

The Dash for Dignity as usual will raise funds to provide warm dignified clothing to struggling families in Israel. This year, to protect the health of all participants, we will be expanding our offerings and giving all participants a 5 hour window to participate. The Dash will take place on November 8 from 8am – 1pm.

You can choose from one of our 4 beautiful, hand selected running and walking courses.

Or you can run or walk in your own neighborhood or on your treadmill.

At any course you choose, be sure to download the RaceJoy app to be set up with real-time GPS tracking, timing and to enjoy other benefits. See below for more features that are included.

Courses and Maps

Please note that while these courses have been measured and are being offered to enhance your Dash, they are not professionally managed and do not have volunteer turn marshalls or signs. They are 99% traffic free and the only space where you could encounter a vehicle is at the turnaround loop at Tallman. We are providing the RaceJoy GPS tracking app to help guide you, printed maps of each course with written descriptions, and links to MapMyRun if you prefer that service (see below). We will mark turns and tricky areas with bright yellow 12” arrows that stick to the ground, but as someone could remove these we ask that you do not rely solely on them to guide you.

FOUR BEAUTIFUL HAND PICKED COURSE OPTIONS

Tallman Mountain State Park
Rte 9W, Palisades, NY 10976

How to get there

Please note this course begins from the small lot located off of 9W, NOT from the main entrance and parking area. https://goo.gl/maps/UsxNZkSrttyyrdgP8

Enter the 9 W Market into your navigation app.

243 Rte 9W, Palisades, NY 10964

Pass the Market on your right and then  turn right into a small parking area on the east side of the road. A small sign identifies the parking area as part of Tallman Mountain State Park, but this sign is not easily seen from Route 9W.  If the lot is full, street parking is available on the parking lot side of the street.  DO NOT park on the street opposite the entrance.

Description

Tallman Mountain State Park Bike Path is a wide and partially paved path that bisects Tallman Mountain State Park. The route provides a motor-vehicle-free way for runners, walkers and cyclist to enjoy the woods that connect the quaint town of Palisades to the piers and wide river views of Piermont, NY.  The park itself is heavily wooded on the easterly slope of the Palisades uplands and overlooks Hudson and Piermont Marsh (between the river and the slope).

If you choose to run Tallman, the Dash course will be primarily on the softer crushed gravel portion of the path with beautiful views of the Hudson river and a high canopy of trees overhead. This is the perfect option for those looking for a touch of adventure and the opportunity to explore a new beautiful place.

Part of what makes this six-mile-long path so popular is the fact that nowhere along the path will you have to cross traffic; instead, the trail has several over- and underpasses and footbridges for roads, which facilitate a safe and enjoyable trail experience.

If you choose to run Saddle River, you will start and finish at the picturesque Glen Rock area of the park.
