BZS Micro Forest Project
Since 2021, this sustainable initiative has seen BZS plant 28 micro forests (comprising over 10,000 sq.ft.) across Bermuda to date. These dense plots are planted with native and endemic species with the goal to strengthen biodiversity and generate conservation awareness to our local community. The project was based on the Miyawaki Forest model which encourages the growth of trees and forests even in the smallest areas of land, acting as a carbon sink where these forests can remove carbon from the atmosphere continually as they grow. To date, the project has culled over 150,000 invasive plants, planted over 6,600 endemic plants of 46 unique species and engaged over 3,000 volunteers
RenaissanceRe is one of the founding partners of the project and a portion of all proceeds will go towards the charity.
