For more than a century, the LJCC has served Birmingham residents in countless ways, and we continue to grow and evolve to meet community needs. We’re proud that our legacy of being an oasis for B’ham’s Jewish community has evolved into playing such an important role in the wider community.

Our impact is directly linked to support from our partners, including donations from our members and friends. Contributions to The J address critical community needs through blood drives, aquatic therapy for veterans, free swim lessons for underserved local students, and services to adults with autism. Combining these services with our dynamic programming and popular events creates opportunities for collaboration, recreation, and learning across generations. 

About the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders
Each year, more than 190 children are diagnosed with cancer in Alabama. The diagnoses include leukemia, lymphoma, brain, and spinal cord tumors, solid tumors of muscle and bone, kidney and liver tumors and rare childhood cancers. There are approximately 2,000 patients treated with serious blood disorders, including sickle cell disease and hemophilia that receive care from the center each year.

Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders physicians are actively working toward the goal of a cure for all children through research and the development of innovative therapies. While a portion of each race registration is donated to the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders, your additional donation dollars go far to help in finding a cure.
