Founders Day 5K

The Newark Historical Society was founded in 1981 and maintains an extensive collection of photographs, documents, memorabilia, and other materials that document the history of the city.  In addition, the Society sponsors talks, walking tours, and other events promoting Newark’s history.  

The Newark History Museum, operated by the Historical Society, is housed in the Pennsylvania, Wilmington, and Baltimore Railroad station located just off South College Avenue. Originally constructed in 1877, the station was renovated in 1988 and opened in April 1989 for the use of the Newark Historical Society.
