The Ashley Nicole Furio Fund was established by David and Rose to honor the memory of their beautiful daughter Ashley, and her compassion and desire to help children with special needs. The fund, incorporated into the Ma-Ran Endowment of Children’s Beach House, supports the Margaret H. Rollins Child Development Center. Proceeds of the annual Ashley Furio 5K Run/Walk help fund the endowment established in Ashley’s name.
The child development center provides preschool and support services to 3- and 4-year-olds from Sussex County. The center serves children of all abilities, those with identified developmental delays and those who are typically developing, as part of a diverse community of learners. Many of the children come from under-resourced households.
The Furio family is committed to carrying on Ashley’s legacy in a way that will benefit generations of children to come. The plaque is prominently displayed in the lobby of Children's Beach House in Lewes.
Children's Beach House is a Delaware-based nonprofit organization. It fulfills founder Lydia Chichester du Pont’s vision to help children with communicative disabilities and other special needs be successful in life, and to help them reach their highest potential as contributing members of their families and communities.
