Our Mission
The Place assists people of the Forsyth and Dawson county areas with essential needs and to be self-sustaining.
Our History
The Place of Forsyth County was founded in 1975 by four Dominican Nuns. The sisters offered the residents assistance with financial needs, clothing, shelter, food, and even tutoring. Throughout our history, we have been the catalyst for several agencies that had their beginnings as programs at The Place.
In 2015, we started a workforce development initiative to help the under-employed and unemployed prepare for and secure jobs. We merged with Dawson county's RIC-Rack thrift store in 2021. Now, The Place of Dawson, our mission is to provide the community with programs and services that help meet their needs.
Today, we serve our community with financial emergency assistance, clothing, food, educational opportunities, plus numerous support services. Through our many initiatives and services, we are changing lives in Forsyth and Dawson counties of Georgia.
