Funds raised by the Gaston Lions Club are used to provide four $750 scholarships to graduates of Wes Del High School annually; purchase eye glasses and exams for those in need; provide Christmas baskets to about 15 to 20 local families annually; donate and support to youth and community groups, such as 4-H through the Annual Livestock Auction, Toys for Tots Annual Christmas Drive, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Wes Del Athletic and Music Boosters, American Legion Auxiliary, Gaston Volunteer Fire Department and Gaston Police Reserves Organization; contribute to the Lions International Leader Dog Program to provide service dogs for the sight-impaired; contribute to Lions International Research for Cancer, Diabetes, Heart and Lung Disease; contribute to Lions International Speech and Hearing Projects; contribute to Veterans organizations, such as Indy Honor Flight, Wounded Warrior Project, Dog Tags & Go Bags and Veterans Service Office and maintain our thirty-acre Lions Club Park.
