The Town of Ipswich and the Ipswich Human Rights Commission invite you to join us for the First Annual Love Your Neighbors 5K Walk/Run, in Ipswich, MA.
Each year, the Love Your Neighbors 5K will commemorate an event, group or person who has inspired the spirit of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This year's inaugural race will honor the memory of Jenny Slew, who lived in Ipswich in the 1700’s. Jenny Slew was the daughter of an enslaved black man and a white woman who grew up as a free citizen, but as an adult was kidnapped and forced into slavery. Slew ultimately sued for and won permanent status as a free citizen—the first enslaved Black American to win her freedom through the courts. Please join us in celebrating Jenny Slew.
Race proceeds and any additional contributions or gifts made here will be allocated to Ipswich community engagement initiatives and workshops supporting the spirit of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
