Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the most common birth defect in the United States. Each year approximately 40,000 babies are born in the United States with a CHD. This equates to 1 child every 15 minutes. Approximately 25% of children born with a CHD will need heart surgery or other interventions in their first year of life to survive.
The needs of these children and their families are complex. The Ollie Hinkle Heart Foundation (OHHF) recognizes these needs and strives to meet them, and their contributions to the heart community are invaluable.
