5k Run / Walk
Race Day: The race is Saturday, March 15. Registration opens at 9a. The race steps off at 10a.
Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up: Registration and packet pick up will be available on FRIDAY, MARCH 14 from 10a-6p at the Union County Health Department (940 London Ave. Suite 1100). We will be set up in our Board Room which has an entrance from the front parking lot (look for the small green awning at the right front corner of the County Services Building, our logo is on the door). Race proceeds: This year’s race is raising funds for food insecurity in Union County schools, specifically supporting Blessings in a Backpack which is a K-8 weekend supplemental food program in all three of our school districts. In addition, Marysville and North Union High Schools have established food pantries for their students. During packet pick-up and race registration day of the race, we will be accepting monetary and food donations for the Blessings and High School food pantry program. A separate email will be coming out with specifics of what type of items are sought, but think shelf-stable, little to no cooking, simply ready-to-heat, ready-to-eat items. Any items received which can’t be used for the school program will be donated to the Hope Center.
DAY RACE OF ITEMS:
Registration: If you are unable to register on Friday, registration and packet pick-up will be available on RACE DAY beginning at 9a. We will be setting up registration in the stadium parking lot on Amrine Mill. Look for the white pop-up tents. (Address for the high school is 800 Amrine Mill. You will pass the parking lot before you get to the high school.)
Age Groups: Prizes are awarded for the top place in each age group- male and female; overall male and female winners. Age groups are 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, every ten years up to 69, and then 70+.
Parking: We encourage you to park in the Marysville High School stadium lot off Amrine Mill. There will be parking signs but again look for the white tents and park close to those. (See Day of Event Map)
Course: A course map is available online at https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Marysville/StayActive5k . We will be monitoring the course throughout the week. We do have a plan B course if there is high water or mud! Keep your fingers crossed for no washout sections. Adjustments may be made day of, if needed.
Weather: This is a rain-or-shine event. We will be there no matter the weather. You will need to make the best decision for you (and your family) regarding your attendance. There will be no refunds, sorry!
Corral: There is not a corral. We usually have close to 300 registrants. We will have staff indicating times at the staging area. Please self-select the proper place for you to start. For individual timing purposes, the race is chip-timed. Winners are based on gun time.
Pets and Strollers: Dogs and little people are welcome to join us! We simply ask that the dogs are on a leash at all times and that you have materials to clean up after your pet(s), as needed. Please stage pets and strollers to the back of the group for their safety and yours.
Post-Race Treat: We will have normal post-race water, fruit, and granola bars, but also we will have Nothing Bundt Cake bundtinis (woot hoot!). Make sure to see our Safe Communities tent at the finish line for a St. Patty's Day education and grab a bundtini!
