Description
Join us Sunday morning for the 5K run in the Freed To Run Challenge — a powerful way to support Jacksonville Area Legal Aid’s Shelter for Elders Endowment while getting your legs moving.
- When & Where: The 5K begins at 11:00 a.m. (Sunday) around the Duval County Courthouse. Each loop is ½ mile, so participants will complete 10 laps to reach the full 5K distance.
- Course: This is a flat, spectator-friendly looped course circling the courthouse grounds — ideal for runners and walkers alike.
- Who Can Participate: Everyone is welcome — from seasoned runners to casual walkers and first-time racers. You’ll be part of a larger weekend of challenges (12-hour, 24-hour, relay, bike ride), but this 5K is a great entry point into the event.
- Mission-Driven: Proceeds from the 5K support JALA’s Shelter for Elders Endowment, helping low-income seniors with housing-related legal issues like eviction defense, reverse mortgage fraud, scam prevention, and home condition disputes.
- Finish & Celebration: Cross the finish line and join us at the midday Finish Line Celebration on the lawn of the Duval County Courthouse, where participants from all Freed To Run events will gather.
- Why Run: Beyond the health benefits and fun, your participation helps protect the dignity and housing security of vulnerable seniors across Northeast Florida. Whether you run fast, walk, or bring a friend — every step matters.
