Race Day Information

FINAL RACE UPDATE.  PLEASE READ!!!

It's race week!!!!  Hope everyone is excited and ready for some healthy fun.  We are looking forward to another exciting event.

Please read the important information below to help answer any questions you may have regarding race weekend.

Check in opens at 6:45 AM and closes at 7:30 am. Athlete must be present at Check-in. A wristband with your race number will be placed on your wrist at packet pick up and must be worn at all times during the event.  You will need your wrist band to get body marked and to enter transition.
You will also be given your race bib number. The bib number is to be worn during the bike and run portion of the event.
We do not have swim caps to give out so please bring your own. They are not mandatory.
Transition opens at 6:45 am and closes at 7:45. No parents are allowed in transition area before or during race.  There will be volunteers available to help athletes setup their transition area.

Time trial pool start:
Athletes will still be seeded into waves as follows:

Wave 1         Ages 13 and 14        Start Time:                       8:00 am

Wave 2         Ages 11 and 12        Estimated Start Time:       8:30 am

Wave 3         Ages 9 and 10          Estimated Start Time:       8:50 am

          Wave 4         Ages 6, 7 and 8        Estimated Start Time:       9: 10 am

The first wave will begin at 8:00 a.m. and athletes will line up in numerical order starting lowest number to highest in each respective wave. There will be plenty of staff and volunteers on hand to assist with lining up the athletes in preparation for their start. A timing individual will be near the pool side at the start location. Athletes will be started one at a time. The timing individual will tell the athlete when to begin. Each athlete will be individually timed. The time interval between each athlete will vary based upon the swimming ability of the athlete starting in the position just in front of them. If a slower swimmer is in the water, the start of the next athlete will be delayed a few seconds to allow for appropriate spacing. If the swimmer just in front is an accomplished swimmer, the time interval will be less. Each swimmer will start approximately 5-10 seconds apart. It should take between 5-15 minutes to start all athletes in wave 1. When all athletes from wave 1 have exited the water, we will wait an additional 5 minutes to start wave 2 and we will then follow the same procedure for wave 2, and then wave 3. The approximate start time of wave 2, 3 and 4 are estimated time.

Bike check in:
ALL athletes will be required to check their bike into transition by 7:30 a.m. race morning at the transition area indicated on the event map next to the Blanchard Park YMCA Pool area. Bikes cannot be removed until the last cyclist from wave 4 has exited transition. This should be shortly after 10am.

Run course:
To eliminate having runners and cyclist on the same trail we are sending the athlete in the opposite direction from the bike course. The run course will be an out and back towards Rouse RD on the Little Econ Greenway Trail.

Event Course:
To avoid confusion for the different age group distances, the course will be color coordinated to the kids wristbands.  If the athlete has a green wristband this athlete will turn at all the green points on the bike and run course. Please ensure that your Athlete understands this.  We will also have volunteers helping the Athletes at the different turn around points.

Post Race Awards Presentation:
Begins at approximate 10:30am in the large covered area next to the pool behind the YMCA building.
