Description

Join us on Sunday, December 5th in Nocatee for the second annual Sandy Claus Full Marathon /  Half Marathon / 10K race.  Start and finish will take place in the field next to the Nocatee Splash Water Park.  The course will include the scenic Nocatee Greenway Trails, and will circle through several of the local developments within Nocatee.

To allow for social distancing at the start we will be scoring over all winners based on 'gun time' and age group winners based off 'chip time'.  We ask for elite runners going for the win to toe off first at the start line.  There is no need to stand crowded together at the start line.  All runners will receive an official 'chip time' based off the time they individually cross the start line to their finish.  The 'chip time' is used for all age group ranking.

We ask that all runners wear a face mask during packet pickup / checkin, and that you practice social distancing during the event.  Runners do not need to wear masks while racing.

The Half Marathon is presented by Runners4Recovery. Runners4Recovery is an amazing team of community members committed  to helping others. Runners4Recovery takes our convictions and turns them  into action, by bringing awareness to the community about the stigma  of individuals with substance abuse disorders. Runners4Recovery fosters healthy lifestyle choices through exercise and running.   The Runners4Recovery focus is to provide access to recovery resources and services for those in active recovery. We support individuals to embrace a healthy lifestyle through running or other healthy activities. We provide access to community agencies, and advocate for individuals to break down negative perceptions of those struggling with addiction.

Detailed Start Map:

Image

Description: All races start under the Second Wind Arch located to the side of the Nocatee stage.  The Marathon is a 2 looped version of the Half Marathon Course.  Runners finishing will cross under the arch on the right side.  Marathon runners continuing onto a 2nd loop will pass through on the left side of the arch to record a split time, and repeat the course a second time.

Detailed Mid Point:

Description: Runners follow the Nocatee Greenway to the 3 way intersection.  This is Water Station #1.  Runners turn right down the path.  The path continues into a residential area.  Two right hand turns and then runners will find themselves at Water station #2.  Runners to a turn around here, and return to Water station #1 - TURN RIGHT, and continue down the greenway trail.  Next runners will pass the 10k TURN around.  13.1 runners continue straight, and 10Kk runners will be looping back.  13.1 runners then come to the end of the Greenway.  Runners turn right, and proceed on the large Nocatee sidewalk.

Detailed Turn Around

Description:  Runners will follow the course through these two residential loops.  The upper loop first (counter clockwise), then on to a short stretch to Water Station #4 and a race Potty, then onto the lower loop (also counter clock wise).  Then runners continue onto the same Nocatee walkway  (west side of road) and repeat all the route.  This includes repeating the out and back from Water Station #1(3 way intersection) to Water Station #2, and back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KNOW THE COURSE...  All 26.2, 13.1, and 10K runners will have a RIGHT/LEFT sign located on the Nocatee Greenway as they are coming back to the 3 Way intersection/Water Station#1 from the water station #2.  If it is your first time hitting this intersection, you are turning RIGHT to continue on with the course.  If it is your second time returning to this intersection, and you have "completed the course", you are turning LEFT, to FINISH.

10K Course Map

10K Runners will start at the same time as the Half Marathon runners, in the grass field, under the start/finish arch.  10K Runners follow the exact same course.  First hitting water station #1, then water station #2.  Runners return to water station #1 and then turn right.  At a well marked point on the trail (3.1Miles) , 10K runners will have a 10K Turn Around point.  Half Marathon runners will be continuing straight, while 10K runners turn around, and complete the remaining 3.1 miles  course.  10K runners repeat the entire course on the return trip. This includes repeating the out and back from Water Station #1(3 way intersection) to Water Station #2, and back.
