Description
The American Cancer Society @ University of Iowa student organization is hosting a 5K run and walk event this fall to kickstart the school year and fundraise for cancer research and patient services! Proceeds benefit cancer research grants (including $2 million in research grants from ACS at the UIHC), lodging services for cancer patients like the Russel and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge in Iowa City, patient programs across the country, and more. This race is a part of mini events for our annual event, Relay For Life at UIA! Stay tuned for details on the big event in Spring 2024. Follow ACS at Iowa student organization on Instagram @acs.uiowa for updates throughout the year.

DAY BEFORE RACE (FRIDAY, OCT 4TH): Runners can pick up their race packet at Fitness Sports (103 5th St, Coralville) during business hours on Friday from 10 am - 6 pm.
DAY-OF-ESSENTIALS: Registration will open in-person at Hubbard Park at 9 am on October 5th. During this time, all participants will be required to sign a waiver and release form. If you have registered online through RunSignUp, you have signed these waivers during the registration process.
We encourage runners to wear comfortable running shoes and any PINK t-shirt/sweatshirts or attire for breast cancer awareness or their event t-shirts! Event t-shirts will be passed out Saturday morning.
Snacks are provided after the run, sponsored by Natural Grocers Iowa City and PepsiCo.

Race Map
5K Route will start at Hubbard Park next to the park's church. The route will go across the Pedestrian Bridge, along the Iowa River Corridor Trail north to loop through City Park. Headed back south, runners will run along Hancher Auditorium, along Riverside Drive, and back to Hubbard Park.
