22 A Day 5K

There is a statistic that has been widely quoted in the veteran community that highlights an estimated 22 veterans a day are committing suicide. It is a deeply troubling statistic and has galvanized the veteran movement, both from inside the military and veteran communities, and externally, to bring about a wide range of programming nationwide. While this statistic may be higher than what is accurate, one is too many.

This year, to show our support to our Veterans, I am hosting a '22 A Day 5K' to walk a mile in their shoes. We will honor those who have served, who have been lost, and those who lost the battle and became a part of this horrid statistic.

Join me on November 11, 2017 at Spencer Park, after the finishing of our Belvidere Veteran's Day Parade, to partake in a fun 5K Walk/Run, for a great cause!

Anyone is welcome to participate, and there is no age limit. Strollers/wheelchairs/wagons are permitted.

The 5K will begin at 1:00p.m. sharp, following the National Anthem. Please arrive 30-45 minutes early to check in.

Cost for this run is $40 per participant. Childen 2 and under are Free. This cost includes:
- Runner's Tshirt
- Snacks after completion
- Finisher's Medal
- Donation to our local VAC

100% of proceeds and donations will be given to our local Veterans Assistance Commission of Boone County, Illinois. These funds go towards helping our local Veterans with food, utilities, car repairs, and medical prescriptions.
